FOREIGN INTELLIGENCE SURVEILLANCE COURT REAUTHORIZES SECRET SPY PROGRAM!
April 16, 2026
FISC is saying the program helped them prevent an attack on a Taylor Swift concert in Austria and to kill El Mencho. The program allows intelligence agencies to spy on non-citizens outside the US without their knowledge. Nothing new, right? Well, Section 702 was set to expire on April 20th, 2026. It's renewal would allow spy agencies to strongarm internet and telecom providers to turn over phone calls, emails and text messages of non US citizens, located abroad, without a warrant. The White House has until today, April 16, to appeal the order, or correct the privacy issues that have been addressed. The current administration is seeking an 18-month extension of their current spying power, which if approved, would extend it until October 2027.
ONTARIO FREEDOM OF INFOMATION ACT UNDER ATTACK!
April 16, 2026
Unfortunately not commonly known, Ontario residents have the right to access high levels of government records. While not always approved, Ontarions have the right to ask. The Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA). Established in 1988, FIPPA grants the public a right of access to records held by provincial institutions while protecting personal privacy. Within the last month however, Ontario is proposing a change to its FOI rules that keep some records secret. The government has claimed the change is simply about improving outdated legislation, and would exclude the premier, cabinet ministers, parliamentary assistants and all their staff from FIPPA requests. This would mean even LESS transparency for the Ontario government, creating less trust and room for even more corruption. Both the Ontario Liberals and NDP have said that they would reverse the changes if elected, but the commissioner says if this change passes, it is likely to be permanent.

TORONTO'S A.I. POWERED VIRTUAL GATED COMMUNITY!
April 15, 2026
What does virtual gated community even mean? Well thanks to FLOCK, an American operator of security software focused on automated license plate recognition, it means bye-bye privacy. In Toronto's Rosedale neighbourhood, it means recording every vehicle and their plates. Software converts images into characters, then checks them against whitelists and blacklists. These alerts can ping law-enforcement in seconds. Some yuppies in the neighbourhood say it's a necessary safety measure, while some sane people suggest otherwise. Stay safe!
RANSOMWARE GANG WARS!
April 15, 2026
0APT is a ransomware gang believed to have been created at the start of this year. What is ransomware? Well, it's malware, and it's used to hijack data from unsuspecting victims. What does 0APT do? They claim to have the capabilities of commiting massive data breaches through their specialized, highly-encrypted ransomware.
Now where does this 'gang war" come in? Well they wouldn't be a gang without rivals. A group called "Krybit" came onto the scene at the beginning of the month, claiming to have stolen sensitive data from Whiskey & Co., Inc., Dencom, and Fraper.com. 0APT made it clear that they want no competition, threatening to leak the identities and locations of Krybit members if they don't cease operations. In retaliation, Krybit has listed 0APT as one of its targets/victims.

HOW TO LEAK A MOVIE: PARAMOUNT+, PIRACY, AND THE LAST AIRBENDER.
April 15, 2026
AVATAR: AANG, THE LAST AIRBENDER is scheduled for release on Paramount+ in October. Unfortuneately for them, the movie has been released a lot sooner. In a major fumble by a corporate conglomerate, the film was leaked after being accidentally sent to a Twitter/X user who then of course, released it. Once a leak like this happens, there is no turning back. The film spread like wildfire, and there is nothing the filmmakers or Paramount can do to get it back.
